New 3.5km Handicap Course

Published Mon 04 Feb 2019

For the February 3.5km handicap, the course will be altered to remove the second turn-around point so that instead runners will turn right at the bridge and then proceed around the lake and then over the second bridge to re-join the original course back to the finish line. This course change will also necessitate the first turn-around point at Garrison Point to be moved further along nearer the picnic shelter.

3.5km Course 2019

The course is essentially flat.

Commencing in front of the clubhouse run along the track for about 300m and turn left at the intersection with the "main" pathway, you immediately cross a bridge. Run along the main pathway which follows prospect Creek on the right. Stay on this pathway for about 1.29kms.

You will come to the turnaround point to Garrison Point. The Turnaround point is just after you pass between a bank of rubbish bins four either side of the track. There is a picnic shelter off to you right. You can see a concrete section of pathway about 20m passed the turn point which is marked by a small white disk in the middle of the track.

Having turned you will return along the main path for approximately 1.2kms to a "T" intersection which is just after you have crossed a bridge, you will have a choice to make, go RIGHT  (not left).

Follow the path around the top of the lake until you see a small bridge on your right, turn right across this bridge. You will again come to the main pathway turn left, go along the main pathway to the next left turn which is the path that leads to the clubhouse and the finish line, this is about 300m.

Smile as you cross the line!

When running the course don't forget to take in the views of our wonderful parkland with the Georges River, Prospect Creek, the wharf, Lake Gillawarna both North and South and the bird/wildlife. It will take your breath away, and that is the only reason you are breathing hard, not because you have been running. :o) Enjoy.
