5@theLake Results

  • the eighth in the 2018-19 “5@theLake” series, of eleven runs in all
  • 36 starters
  • 5 pbs
  • 3 best times for at least 6 months
  • 3 first-timers

  • 103 have started in all events this series

We had 36 starters, including three first-time starters. Jack Wedgwood was fastest on the day in 19:13 and at the moment has the wood on Steve Pappas 19:32. Nathan Mudie had led Steve until the late stages of the race, yet Steve came hard and bested Nathan’s 19:39 to the mats. In challenging Steve as he did, Nathan ran a 36 second pb.

There were 5 pbs and 3 achieved their best time in the current series. Pbs beside Nathan’s included Eamon McCann taking 59s off his previous best last June, to run 20:33 and finished 5th across the mats, and for the first time appeared on the Points podium. Amaan Faiz continued his run of pbs for the third consecutive month with 23:57, and sister Misbah knocked near a minute off her recent effort. We’ll give the headline to Rob Ellison, part-time runner and more often event organiser, with his first time under 30 minutes with a 35 second pb.

This event is not necessarily about the quickest. It really is about doing your best against yourself, ergo the pbs, and maybe then the others in your age categories.

There are 5 attachments to reflect the results.

  • Rep1 – Across the Line/Chip Times
  • Rep2 – Pointscores
  • Rep3 – Performance Points – Cumulative for 2018-19
  • Rep4 – Chip Times for 2018-19
  • Rep5 – Across the Line – in Age Category

The first report is straight-forward - reporting the chip time of all finishers.

The second report reflects the calculated points based on the international formula for gender and age against world record, and reported in ‘points’ sequence. It can be that the early finishers may not be the highest point-scorers and vice-versa.

Our winners:
Steve Pappas  480 points  -  second across the line
Sue Chenery  473 -  thirteenth
Eamon McCann  467 -  fifth

The third report is a cumulative result to-date of performance point-scores.
The 5@theLake is conducted through the Westies year. The competition winner will be the one with the highest cumulative point-score from eight of the eleven events.
The point-score report now reflects tallies less the 3 worse scores.

The fourth report is a listing of the 2018-19 participants with their recent times history. You can track results across the month, including consistencies, personal bests, et alia.

The fifth report reflects the participants’ placings within age and gender categories.

To all our participants, thank you for being part of the event.
