November 5@theLake Race Report

the third in the 2018-19 “5@theLake” series.

  • 8 having their first run in this event
  • 51 starters
  • 14 pbs

Another great morning at the Lake. On course there was never much distance between our race leaders Vateesh and Steve. Vateesh managed to wrangle a few metres gap prior to the run home when Steve made his move, coming home the quicker. Vateesh prevailed, the difference 1.3 seconds.

In the ladies, 2nd and 3rd finishers Jacqui and Kayley had their own contest, with Jacqui acknowledging that young Kayley totally pushed her. Both ran pbs for the second month running. Prior to last month, their pbs both dated back to early 2016.

This event is not necessarily about the quickest. It really is about doing your best against yourself, and maybe then the others in your age categories.

All up there were 14 pbs, five of these belonging to participants having their second go at this 5k.

There are reports to reflect the results.

  • Across the Line/Chip Times
  • Pointscores
  • Performance Points – Cumulative for 2018-19
  • Chip Times for 2018-19
  • Across the Line – in Age Category

The first report is straight-forward - reporting the chip time of all finishers.

By category, the quickest were:

Males:    Vateesh Chand 19:10, Steve Pappas 19:11 and Paul Webb 20:00

Females:  Lilian Molesworth 20:22, Jacqui Viterale 22:48 and Kayley Sommer 23:14

Juniors (under 16) – Male:  Nathan Trinh 25:12, and Owen Forest-Jones 30:11

Juniors (under 16) – Female:  Kayley Sommer 23:14, Jessica Gurung 25:29 and Emma Trinh 25:34

The second report reflects the calculated points and our real champs of the day, based on the international formula for gender and age against world record, and reported in ‘points’ sequence. It can be that the early finishers may not be the highest point-scorers and vice-versa.

Our winners:

1st Steve Pappas  481 points - second across the line
2nd Sue Chenery  473 - fourteenth
3rd Dean Turner  467 - sixth

The third report is a cumulative result to-date of performance point-scores.

The 5@theLake is conducted through the Westies year. The competition winner will be the one with the highest cumulative point-score from eight of eleven events.

The fourth report is a listing of the 2018-19 participants with their recent times history. You can track results across the month, including consistencies, personal bests, et alia.

The fifth report reflects the participants’ placings within age and gender categories.

To all our participants, thank you for being part of the event.

Again, a special thank you to Davo for marking up the course beforehand, and to Chris for setting up the water station.

Thanks as always to the many helpers with the set-up and the mat put-away.

Winners of the draws:

Random placing draw winners were Zenita Acaba & Dean Turner. The lucky tickets were won by Patrick Wong & Owen Forest-Jones.
