Handicapper's Report - 3.5k Handicap 13 October 2018

  • great conditions for running
  • 55 starters
  • 15 bettered or equaled handicap
  • 8 pbs
  • 4 having their best result in over 12 months
  • again 9 juniors
  • again 4 newbies

First to cross the mats was the faster moving Ian Forest-Jones. Ian was having his second ‘run’, a qualifier’, after injury had moved him to walk the last series. He was recently spotted doing extra training and being paced by son Owen on the bike. Keep up the good work mate.

Next to cross was our trophy winner Pauline Kelly, enjoying a great month of running. Pauline achieved the rare feat of winning two handicaps in a row, and in between ran a great pb in the 10k. This go, Pauline ran 19:33, a pb of 49s on her winning result last month. In 2nd place was Zoe Turner with her pb on her best last February, and 3rd Jacqui Viterali one second behind in 3rd, and her best time in almost 12 months.

Handicap Results:
1st:  Pauline Kelly – 19:33 – a 49 sec pb
2nd:  Zoe Turner – 22:36 – a 35 sec pb
3rd:  Jacqui Viterali – 15:57 – best since November’17

A thank you as always to Chris for setting up the water table. Thank you to our members who helped set-up and take down. Thanks to Davo who marked up the course and did some cleaning up out in the Garrison.
And we wouldn't have an event without the handicapper, so well done again Rob Ellison.

A big special thank you to Narelle Willems who dropped by and gave a presentation as part of the 50-year anniversary celebrations. Narelle was a club president for 3 terms, crewed for our Trailwalker teams for numerous years, and earned a name as a Westies groupie with her mate Pat as they supported Westies at every event in which a Westie was participating.
