Westies at the WARRIOR Run – 3 September 2017

Thanks again for the Westies team’s assistance – without you guys course management would be impossible”. These were words from the Race organisers.

Last Sunday, Westies volunteered at the WARRIOR Run at Centennial Park. This was the 3rd year of the event and our 3rd year in doing so. Our 12 Westies very successfully marshalled over half the course, including the crucial people traffic points and the start/finish area.

WARRIOR Run events are held Australia wide as significant fundraisers for the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF), a charity organisation established in 2009 by champion marathon runner, Robert de Castella, and committed to using running as a vehicle to promote health, drive social change and celebrate incredible Indigenous resilience and achievement.

It was a beautiful morning weather-wise and a great atmosphere to boot. The 3 events: a 10k, a 5k and a 2k, attracted only 500 participants, and deserved a lot more.

The Wedgwood boys with Deek. Jack and Mark both ran the 5k ... Jack finished 10th in 21:35 and Mark 19th in 24:08. Jack backed up in the 10k and ran 42:36, finishing also 19th.
