Heart of the Lake is a winner!

Our Facebook contributors said it very nicely:

  • Great weather + great venue + great people = great day!
  • Once again Westies put on a first class act.
  • Thanks for a great mornings run.
And via email we received the following feeback: “You do everything right from km markings, to wonderful refreshments after the run, the presentations, friendly, helpful people and with the most picturesque run in Sydney”.

These comments sum up the day very nicely. Due to council works at our Lake, it was necessary to redesign both the 10k and the 3k courses in recent weeks and that appeared to have worked very well.

Westies filled the top positions in the 10k: Matt Cox in 31:51, from Kyle MacDonald and Hamish Wallace. The first ladies were Louise Noble 40:30, Stephanie Bilic and Lilian Molesworth.

The 3k was won by Cameron Roberts in 9:30 from Ben Moss and Louie Stergio. The ladies placings were taken by Taylor Porter in 11:13 from Shanae Noaon and Sarah Salmon.

A big thank you to the Westies members who volunteered; the event would not happen, nor be the success it is, without you. Thank you to everyone who participated in our events including our own Westies. We would’ve liked bigger fields so that more could have benefitted from our hospitality and made it even more worthwhile given the efforts of our members.

Thank you to our sponsors: ACO, Temperature Controls, QUBE Ports and Bulk, Bankstown City Council, Golden Signs and Cadbury’s Fundraisers.

Our charities supported by our event include the Bankstown East Hills Handicapped Association and Cancer Research.
