One quick Westie, David Riches, ran in the Sanda International Half Marathon in Japan on 20 December. David's time was 76m27s and that gave him first in category by over 2 minutes.

This was the 27th running of this event and as co-incidence would have it, David was 27th outright, in a field of 5,000.

Sanda is small city in Japan, not far from Kobe, one of the country’s biggest cities. Sanda is a sister city to the Blue Mountains; David Riches is a Blue Mountains boy (Glenbrook), so there had to be some special attraction.

David’s time was a pb half marathon time for him. The course was a tough one. Several sharp climbs and a solid downhill finish. In David’s words: I gave it everything and the cold weather helped. The course was harder or as hard as C2S and longer of course”.

Congratulations on a fantastic effort David.
