Course description and links to course maps
The Georges River Festival of the Feet has four races 3 km, 7km, 14km and 21.1 kms within the Mirambeena Regional Park with the Georges River at the southern end and Prospect Creek forming the western boundary. There are Lakes set in parkland and bush with pathways throughout. The run courses are based on 7km loops with the 3 km run being part of this loop.

The 7km loop
Starting on the expansive grassed area adjoining Lake Gillawarna with its teeming bird life of pelicans, swans, wild ducks and waterfowl, the course mostly follows the well-defined pathways. Within the first kilometre, you will have gone from lakeside to a beach on the Georges River then following the banks of Prospect Creek with a flat easy running.

Having nicely warmed up over a little more than 2kms, you will pass the seven peacemakers (totem poles) on your right and then come to your first hill, the start of some undulations for the next kilometre.

You will pass the drinks station at about 3kms. Sweeping down an easy hill you will come to the northern most lake at Shortland Brush with it's water sculpture to migrating birds on the right.

At the northern end of this Lake you will come to a hill of a few hundred metres in length which will "keep you honest" but as the turnaround point is at the crest of this hill, as is the 4 km mark, you will have a fast easy run down until you turn left and go along the eastern side of this beautiful lake.

At about the 5kms point you will go passed the drink station and through some more undulating hills finishing in an easy fast downhill gradient run.

The last kilometre goes along the eastern side of Lake Gillawarna turning to the right just before the pedestrian bridge, which straddles Henry Lawson Drive, returning to the starting point.

Can I run with a pram?
We allow prams in the 3km event which is flat and involves family groups many of which are walking or running slowly, we encourage people to start at the back of the race and we don't encourage them to be used "competitively". The nature of the 7km, 14km and 21km courses and number of people means that these races are not suitable for use of prams.

Can I run with my dog?
Unfortunately, we can't accommodate dogs on the course, the capacity of the pathways on which the races are held is limited in terms of allowing dogs on leads, there are sections where we have two-way traffic. Our experience is that in tight situations some dogs on leads can cause a problem (not all dogs and not always of their making ) kids sometimes can be scared of dogs and we have ,in the past, had dogs on leads trip up runners. We love dogs but we can't allow them in the races in the circumstances.

Where is the event?

Because this is a community based event that keeps entry fees to the minimum and makes contributions to local charities we have a policy of no refunds of entry fees.

If it is raining, is the fun run still on?
Yes, the fun run will still be on if it is raining.
