2018 January 3.5km handicap results

Last Saturday was another great morning at the Lake.

With conditions being very warm at muggy about Start time, everyone was very aware that they would be uncomfortable during the event. Temps were in fact in the mid 20s and the humidity at 85%. And all was reflected in the results.

  • 56 competed the event.
  • Only 14 bettered or equaled handicap. The only non-qualifiers amongst these were our 3 place-getters.
  • And only 2 pbs.

We had a large number of new starters, including old members returning to the club after years away, DanniPaul and Robert; and a number of new members includingSiobhanJohnson, Kiara, and Zac. We welcome you all to our club. We had long time life member Greg Davies drop in, for these days 'his once-a-year visit'. And we hadCrofty return to the course 15 weeks after his fall in Bhutan, and finishing to the tumultuous applause of all present.

(Trivia: Greg D is member number 100, and we are now not far off number 3000)

Many qualifiers crossed the mats ahead of our winner and all are to be congratulated putting in best efforts; they will be rewarded down the track.

Handicap result:

1st:  Chris Moynham – 31:25

2nd:  Reg Sexton – 31:26

3rd:  Steve Pappas – 13:11

There was only .58 of a second between Chris and Reg.

Reg tried so hard to get the better of Chris, but Chris was very determined ... it was Reg’s best effort since Sep’16 apart from the last Best of the Best, an event in which everyone does seems to excel. Congratulations big time boys.

And only the 2 pbsAnn Owen with 28sec and Tracy Lee with 13 sec improvements on their last efforts.  And great to see Bert Sloan finding some lost form with his best result since last August.

Fastest on course:

David Riches – 12:12

Steve Pappas – 13:11

Ben Swinfield – 13:37

Jacqui Viterale – 16:18

Danni Moro – 16:33

Cathy Cox – 16:46

Kayley Sommer – 17:09

Taylah Sommer – 19:57

Dominic Osborne – 21:37

Congratulations all.

There are several reports attached:

  • the “Run Time” report
  • the “Chip Times” with a pb history for current runners of their times on the current course,

and courtesy of the handicapper, Rob E

  • the “Result” report complete with points scored
  • the “Progressive point-score”
  • the “Progressive Fastest Male point-score”, and
  • the “Progressive Fastest Female point-score.

Remember, the series outcomes are determined by the best 9 results across the 12 months. All progressive results reports are now showing the aggregate scores of the best 2 runs to date, viz ‘5 months into the series minus the 3 least scoring runs’.

Thank you to everyone for participating, and to our members who helped set-up and take down. As always, a special thanks to Davo for the course markings and to Chris Moynham with the water station setup.

Random draw prizes – won by: #12 Ann Owen; #27 Danni Moro and #23 Alex Bucci. The lucky tickets were won by Pam Green and Vanora Hughes
