2016 December 3.5km handicap results

We had 49 starters this morning.

First to cross the line was Bill Rannard running his 3rd qualifier after a couple of false starts previously from lingering knee issues. Bill knocked off over 4 minutes from his previous run and is very obviously going great after 16 months of frustration.

Following Bill home were another couple running qualifiers and making great recoveries with Peter Di Michiel and Desi Joannides. Peter was doing his first 3.5k, and Desi ran her best since her ops by over 3 minutes.

It is really great to see you all coming back so well, and all with minds on bigger goals. The vibe is fantastic!

Next home, breaking his handicap by over 2 minutes and best time in over 4 months was Dave Kennedy, and was he buggered. Too fast Dave, breaking the one minute tolerance.

Then Ash Adams having his first handicap run came in 5th across the line in a run time of 16:37. Welcome Ash. Good time.

Then we have Dominic Osborne breaking handicap by over 2 minutes for the 2nd month in a row, and unfortunately like Dave, was dq’d. Dominic ran 20:37, a really great time for a 6 y.o.

Then Alister Duncan, running his 2nd qualifier came in, bettering last month by a minute.

8th to cross the mats and our trophy winner was Ron Stitzinger in a time of 20:57, only 6 secs off his pb ran December 12 months ago. Super effort Ron!

Only 2 secs behind in 2nd was Pat Lewis fresh from her swims in Queensland, in a time of 18:14 and bettering by 17 seconds her previous best set in October 2014, over 2 years ago. You are flying Pat.

In 3rd we had last month’s winner Lianne Christall with a run time of 18:23. No Christmas party the night before this week eh? Just early to bed, just like your NZ cricket team.

Our fastest ladies:

Lianne finished 1 second ahead of our fastest female, 9 y.o. Kayley Sommer, in 15:10. You too are a flyer Kayley! Raff Aquilina crossed and finished just behind in 15:32, and Sue White next in 16:41.

Fastest on course today were the males:

David Riches in 12:01,  Ben Swinfield in 13:44 (only 3 secs off his pb), and Dean Turner in 14:38.

Thank you to all so much for participating. Your presence makes our tasks worthwhile.

The random draw prize went to Leidy Castro, and the lucky tickets to Brian Bennett and Jack Wedgwood.
