2017 February 10km handicap results

We had a new course, mapped out and marked up courtesy of Rob Davo. The Lake works are underway so we had no option but to run with this plan B. We are expecting this course to be the course for another couple of months.

We had 42 starters on a very warm morning. Undoubtedly the conditions affected the participants. At 7:30 GO time, the temp was 22 degrees, and the weather observatory was reporting that this felt like 25. Humidity at 86%. A big thank you to Crofty and Bert for once again for setting up and manning that water station out on the course. Very much appreciated by everyone. And ditto for Chris with the water table at the start/finish. All you guys do great work.

Our regular visitor of recent weeks, Max Esposito had an official run in the handicap, albeit a qualifier, taking off as back marker with Steve Pappas. Max crossed the mats first with a chip time of 39:10.

Max was followed home by our trophy winnerDarren Alchin, with a time of 40:15, ahead of Lilian Molesworth, officially 2ndin 42:11.

These 3 were the only competitors to better handicap on the day, and were from the back markers, a testament to the training that they are putting in for bigger events. Terrific runs.

Officially 3rd was Martin Dinh in 44:19, actually finishing very distressed for his big effort. Be careful Martin.
