2014 December 10km handicap results

Results can be downloaded from the foot of this page.

Thanks to Rob Ellison, Tony Farrell and Pat Cuninghame for start/finish work, and to Rob Davo and Paul Croft at the water station. All very much appreciated.

22 degrees and 80% humidity made for very trying conditions for running. Over 100 cups used at the Drink Station on the course.

We had 48 starters, including new member Wayne Layt, who has been a regular with the early starters at 6:30 on many Saturday mornings. We had Mary Sheehan re-qualifying after injuries, together with Kevin Dixon who has not found his way around the handicap in several years. Welcome back Kev. Several of our runners backed up the next day for the hilly Balmain run and did well. Congratulations on the double up and the some super results.

First to cross the line was Alex Bucci. With another big improvement on her previous efforts, Alex again crossed first (as per last month), this time as a qualified runner, and was our trophy winner. A great effort by Alex to run into the 52s for the first time.

Second home was Peter Brouwer having his best run since April’14 with a watch time of 47:06. Well done Pete.

Third to cross, 15 secs behind Peter, was Bill Rannard, in a time of 49:21. Sub 50 times for Bill is an indicator he is back in training for the 6ft track run in March, Bill’s 22nd. Go Bill.

Next home, one second behind Bill, flying home, and flying back into super fitness, was Lilian Molesworth with her best effort on this course since February’13, with a great time of 42:37. Another great run Lilian..

Our lucky stick winner was #17, Carl Simpson. Our lucky ticket belonged to Ayoob Bhayat.

Thank you to everyone who participated.

We are four runs into the new series of 12, with the best 10 to count. It is still early days yet, and the early leaders of our progressive point-scores are as follows:

Handicap: Paul Webb 775, Geoff Craine 761, Lisa Bennett 756 and Cheryl Penny 754.

Fastest Male: Paul Webb 36, John Child 21, Kyle Macdonald 20, and Steve Pappas 18.

Fastest Female: Lisa Bennett 37, Lilian Molesworth 30 and Jacqui Viterale 23 and Alex Bucci 19.

Well done everyone, keep it going!
