This was the 4th run in our series of 2013-14.

Early temperatures were cool. By GO time we had 15 degrees and by finish the temp was 18. Ideal conditions for running. December 12 months ago, by run finish time we had a temperature of 27. Same time of year, and very different conditions.Notwithstanding the Rob Davo drink station did a roaring trade and went through 78 cups of water. The runners luv you Davo.

The ladies won the day, finishing, 1, 2 and 3 across the line.Desie Joannides was the first to cross. Slowing as she neared home; the fast finishing Tracy Lee caused Desie to make a final surge at the line – the difference on the tape was .51 of a second. Desie was first and the trophy winner, Tracy 2nd. The run was Tracy’s 3rd qualifying run after having stepped up from the 3.4k only 4 months ago. Desie’s watch time was 51:02. This was her fastest time since February 2010. Nearly 4 years. Her first time in the 51s in 12 months. Well done Desie.

Tracy has the goal of sub 50. Today her time was 50:02. Only 2 seconds. Oh so close! You came home very fast. Sub 50 is not far away. A great run Tracy. You have been one of the great improvers, and you are obviously going so well. Over 4 minutes chopped from your times since your time in your 10s.

Third home was Vanessa Kumar. Because of the qualifying run from Tracy, Vanessa is officially 2nd. It has been exactly 12 months since Vanessa last ran sub 50. Vanessa’s last 2 runs have been in the 51s and this run she gave us a 49:43. Another super run.

4th home, first male, officially 3rdGrant Moroney. Grant returned to the 10k handicap in November 10 after several years in the wilderness, off doing his own thing. Today’s run was completed in 45:46. Grant has never been faster. Before this new series, Grant had not gone sub 49; his last 3 runs have been 48, 47 and today 45. Great, great run Grant.

On the day, out fastest were Lorri Dilucchio  in 37:23 and Lisa Bennett in 44:10. This was Lisa’s pb and she is targeting sub 44:00.

All up we had 48 starters, 17 of whom broke their handicap. The ideal conditions complimented their self-determinations to put in excellent efforts.

In the fastest progressive points competitions we have close contests. In the Female ranks, we have VanessaMary Sheehan and Lisa all on 28 points. In the Male comp, Lachlan McKenzie leads from Paul Webb 27 to 26.

In the point-score continually improved efforts have Peter Allen leading on 785 points, from Grant on 778, and Lianne Christall on 757; from Rafic Awad on 754 and Desie on 751.

The lucky stick winner was #47 for Denise Driscoll and the ticket draw was won by Neil Saltmarsh. Both opted for a Jamiesons Run red wine.
